this is.. somewhat depressing.. :l:.. but it sort of.. well.. I was inspired by several things... both personal and not... I wasn't gonna post it here because like.. its sad :l:.. but I think it's pretty well written if I do say so myself..
They say that love conquers all. When we hear that - “love conquers all”, our romantic minds instantly invoke ideas of heroism and daring. The young handsome knight charging into battle with steel flashing defeating foe after foe to rescue his lady love. A young woman going against the tyrannical rule of her aristocratic parents all for the sake of the boy who holds her heart in his hands on the wrong side of the tracks. We think of these scenarios and more. Because love is hearts and flowers and whispered sweet nothings behind the willow tree with initials carved into ancient bark.
But what if “love conquers all” does not mean this at all. What if it’s authors are sitting back enjoying a hearty laugh at the misinterpretation of their oh so very enlightening words; that were meant to be a warning instead of the bud of fanciful ideas.
Conquer, its such a harsh word. Though, is it not fitting for the pain that love can put one through?
Love conquers all. In the beginning yes, it is the dragons and society that it defeats in order for two souls to come together, hand in hand gazing adoringly into each others eyes. But what if that is just one tactic that the great destroyer “love” ensues for its final conquest?
Once love has isolated the pair of lovers and has filled their head with romantic stories and timeless songs that inspire the heart until “love” is the only thing they know; then it springs for its final wave of annihilation. You see the heart and emotions are a fragile thing and love holds vast power. Once starry eyed dreams cloud vision and reason the blow can slip past with ease. Most never see it coming. It starts with a few arguments that always end up in a hug of “I’m sorry my dear”. Until arguments are more occurring then not and tears stain the pillows more then smiling lips touch its surface.
And then your heart is left bleeding with wounds inflicted by loves conquest. Your emotions rubbed raw with defeat. Love has conquered you; you poor blind fool. You had left yourself open for the attack and didn’t even see it coming.
Everyone, I’d think, is likely to fall the victim -- if you possess a heart. If your heart is full and wanting and your soul giving. It’s like painting a bulls eye on your chest. Even those who try in vain to guard themselves take pains to build walls and wrap their hearts in barbwire become the conquered.
Even I have not yet learned to build a mote, set the trap, lay the tiger in the pit of pikes. My heart is just as scarred as yours, my friend, if you take a care; if you posses good and kindness.
But perhaps I’m wrong? Jaded by a short lifetime lived of heart break and disappointment. I wish it were true. I wish I were wrong and someone would come along to banish all of these pessimistic thoughts. But how am I to know that he is not a defiler in knights clothing? And do I wish to take the chance?
Until then I beg of you to take their words for a warning.
“Love conquers all”.
